Not sure what this was used for but have always love this little relic of old.
Intriguing wee building and a great shot. Love the brick work and the growth on the dome.
I can understand that, it's lovely.
in this part of the world, there are a number of mines, both stone and coal.........this is reminiscent of a shaft entrance to a stone mine..... it would be helpful to know what the inscription says above the door........I tried to enhance it in PS, but still couldn't make it out clearly.
