Welcome to the Gibber Plains of Outback South Australia. Friends of mine who used to run T.W.I.T tours (Travel with Intrepid Tours) tell me that many European visitors would get agrophobia when confronted with the vast flat empty plains or the vastness of salt lake Eyre or Torrens. When I made my first visit to the outback plains I thought what a bore, that is until I learned about the secret places that pop up unexpectedly as you make your way across the gibber. By the way Gibber refers to lots of small rocks.
