I had a pet tarantula once and they're great! ..but I had to give my baby girl away cuz my mom used to really freak out every time the spider got out of the "aquarium".. although it was a good way of keeping parents out of the room lol

The actual tarantula bites may be like a bug bite... but the heart attack from seeing a tarantula on you can be pretty bad.

This is usually a docile tarantula but will kick hairs off the abdomen with its hind legs when threatened, which cause blindness if they hit the eyes and can also cause a rash on the skin . About the venom...if you are alergic....I don't know...
