nofue: Please make sure you're entering a picture of bellis perennis -- other members of it's family, the Asteraceae, will be weeded out merciless.

outbackjack: Some of the varieties of Daisies are white Daisy-like flowers, Spanish Daisy, Blue Daisy, Lazy Daisy or Prairie Daisy, African Daisy, Michaelmas Daisy, Swan River Daisy, Tatarian Daisy, Painted Daisy, Paris Daisy, Shasta Daisy, Crown-Daisy, Ox-eye Daisy, Nippon Oxeye Daisy, Giant Daisy, African Daisy, Kingfisher Daisy, Sunshine Daisy, Transvaal Daisy or Barberton Daisy, Tahoka Daisy, Livingstone Daisy, Gloriosa Daisy, Butter Daisy. The reason I chose daisy is that there should be a variety in the genus in your country so it is open to all. I think limiting it to the european daisy bellis perennis excludes too many people. I believe the moderator is in agreement too.

bluefly: does the daisy entered have to be white? There are daisys with beautiful colors.
(2 years and 302 days ago)
nofue: no color restrictions, as long as it is a daisy.

bluefly: "Some well known plants like Dahlia, Chrysanthemum, Aster and Calendula belong to the Daisy family, as well as some less common plants like Tithonia, Inula and Xeranthemum."

nofue: Read my first comment, and outbackjack's list of valid daisies. That's all. Sunflowers and dandilions are also belong to the "Daisy family" (Asteraceae) but will be considered off topic.

carousel: we have daisy flowers here (or just look like daisy flowers). i'm not so good in botany, therefore i don't know which ones fit to the giudelines and which ones don't. the voting will be also hard for me because of the same reason.

adeincyprus: carousel, the voing should not be hard, just vote for the picture as a picture, not whether it is on or off topic.........if you think it is a good shot, you should vote that way regardless......let the moderators decide if it off topic.....just my opinion of course!

nofue: Very good advice, ade.

adeincyprus: I place all my votes this way.........if a picture is worthy of a good vote, it gets it, regardless of whether it fits the theme.........if it is on topic as well, it gets a better one. I don't 'down vote' because a shot is off topic....
(2 years and 301 days ago)
carousel: ok, thanks! it's the same what i'm thinking about it, but nowadays it is trendy to write as many 'off topic' comments as you can.

darkitten: o do downvote if a pic is offtopic, cu it happen some pics to escape the mods and got in the top while having noting to do with the theme and the vast majority agreed that it was optopic. Mods are not Gods and some penalty should follow for breacking the rules. In this contest is indeed a little dificult to decide, so i`ll also stay away from deciding what`s a daisy or not. But in normal cases, i won`t

adeincyprus: darkkitten.......if you think a shot is off topic, then you are able to red flag it......!! this will bring it to the attention of the mods......it's up to you how you vote tho!
