Photography contest - kitsch

Please read the CONTEST GUIDELINES before participating in this contest.

kitsch
Contest Goal:
Photograph something from the retro era ( 50s, 60s, 70s) that could be described as kitsch... Flying wall ducks, plastic fruit, garden flamingos, black lady lamps, crochet toilet roll covers, Gollies, Kewpie dolls etc. No clothing items or portraits of people wearing them, just still life shots.

Contest comments:

nofue: Want to add, no pictures of pictures please. Only three-dimensional objects. Of you have problems with the term -- start here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitsch (2 years and 303 days ago)
Epazia: is the moderator going to be determining rather the photo comes from the time period? or does that really matter? (2 years and 303 days ago)
nofue: Good question -- I think it's almost impossible to tell from which era this kind of stuff is -- true Kitsch is timeless and still produced in low wage countries on decades old molds today. So probably no, if it's really great Kitsch I won't bother to find out when it was designed. I think the main photographic goal should be to create a wonderful still life shot of some three dimensional object. Just make people wow seeing that crap through your lens. It's about wow, not about history, imc. (2 years and 303 days ago)
Epazia: ha ha i love kitschy crap! (2 years and 302 days ago)
Epazia: okay i have another question sorry, i have alot of collector items that are not necessarily from that period but decorations and such meant to be from something in that period can i use that, I am just trying not to get DQed it is happening to me alot lately (2 years and 302 days ago)
Epazia: for example a toy from a movie made in the period of time? (2 years and 302 days ago)
nofue: Epazia -- hard to tell if it fits. But I suppose being dq'ed isn't the end of the world. In fact, it's better to be dq'ed early and entering something that fits better, than to get penalized by voters. So upload your pics and see what's going to happen. (2 years and 301 days ago)
Epazia: no i am pretty sure i am done (2 years and 301 days ago)
outbackjack: I have to go to the op shop I think because I don't have kitsch. Can you enter something you made yourself in that era. I have a couple of pots made in late 70's at school (2 years and 298 days ago)
Contest Moderator: Well -- kitsch has to pretend to hold some artistic value in a "sweetening" way. I suppose self made kitsch can well fit this contest, mass production is only one aspect of kitsch. (2 years and 297 days ago)
