Photography contest - leaves

Contest Goal:
Trees come bearing leaves. Show us the pretty leaves on your trees. Can be of any time of year but must be focused on one single leaf.

You can't remove some shots and not others, and are you guys experts on trees, no offense meant!, do you know which are trees and which are plants, because there are cerainly non tree leaves still here. I am not going to enter a shot if it is going to be removed, because I have my doubts about the choices being made about which should be removed and which shouldn't....
(2 years and 340 days ago) adeincyprus: As a suggestion for the mods and admin, perhaps before contests are put up, there should be some clarification about what the suggested contest actually is and what it should contain. Too often, we have come to a contest, only to have to ask questions about what we are allowed, and what we are not. (2 years and 340 days ago) kyricom: I agree with Ade that it might be good to have some quick communication with the ones suggesting things just so the moderators are clear - so they can help us be clear. Often, wording is very vague or confusing. Many times this may be the result of English not being their primary language. That's a cool part of this site. But those themes could be fixed up before posting, helping everyone. I'd be happy to help with the wording of them if you'd like. There are other leaves that were removed because more than one is in focus and there were multiple red flags on images. (2 years and 340 days ago) bluefly: Palm trees have fronds which look kind of like multiple leaves on one stem. but it's one leaf. I hope this helps. I've been through this before. BUT, I think if the guidelines are "edited" in advance, with easier descriptions, everyone should be able to understand the pre-text of "what" is permissable. ie: "tree leaf" no others. Also, maybe a team member can monitor what pics comply and the ones that don't, kindly notify author, and let them resubmit again, as you do. I'd be happy to be involved in any English grammer, since I am a writer..

As of voting: there is no point considering voting on a picture which is off topic. If it is off topic -- the mods decide -- it will be dq'ed anyway, just raise the red flag. But vote on the picture as if it were on topic. I.e. judge focus, color, tonality, composition, framing, visual impact first. That's at least 60% of the picture. The final 40% are artistic take on the subject, creativity, wow factor, whatever. But don't vote low just because you don't get the author's way to deal with the subject -- sometimes it's easy to be mislead by pictures (and words, as seen in this thread ) (2 years and 340 days ago) TRussotto: I'll vote the way I always have. It is aknowleged that the photo is not correct but the desicion was made that they be removed. Even mods have had their photo's removed.
