interesting place for a nest on a barbed wire fence.

The nest was actually in a tree the grew up through a high chain link fence with barbaed wire across the top.

I find it to be kind of neat looking. The chipping/chipped color gives it character and an interesting look

"ugly" is open to imagination, I think the fact that the bottom boards are off the structure rather unpleasant

No, I haven't done anything at all to the sky, just adjusted the contrast a bit. This was taken on a bridge, looking up and the sky was incredibly blue that day without a cloud in sight.
